Translation of Biblical literature

In collaboration with a number of other organizations a translation of children’s Biblical stories, originally written by Laura Zwoferink and published in Dutch, is being translated into Chichewa. We also want to purchase 500 copies of this translation if possible.

Building the Mission Center

We started building a mission centre in December 2021. This building is located on the walled compound of Bethábara Malawi. Te building is builit with a lot of willingness from the local residents with financial support from the church members and companies from the Bethábara congregation in the Netherlands. Below you can see the floor plan of the building and the progress of construction, from December 2021 until the eind of March 2022.

The mission centre is used for these three purposes:

  1. From the surrounding villages and church congregations, we want to bring together pastors, elders and church leaders to teach them in God’s Word. Our prayer is that, with the inner calling of the Holy Spirit and the gift of God, they may bring this teaching back into the congregations and churches (2 Tim 3:16). The mission center is also suitable to provide shelter and food for these men during their visit.
  2. In this building, the local project manager will do his daily work. This includes administration, translation, study, finance management, project development and supervision.
  3. This building is designed to support the local agricultural initiative. There is a kitchen where locally grown produce is processed. For example, yogurt is prepared here daily from the dairy cows that are milked on the same compound in a small farm. The prepared yogurt is sold in the markets in the area and that proceeds support the daily costs of the mission.

The mission center has been in use for Sunday services since April 2022 and is used during the week for the training of the local pastors. We are still looking for inventory for the building, to which you may want to contribute:

  • 50 chairs (€15 each);
  • Reception € 165;
  • 20 pieces of solar-powered lighting (€25 each);
  • 2 printers (€60 each);
  • Desks and cupboards for the offices (€50 each);
  • Fridge € 440;
  • Freezer €330;
  • Kitchen tools €220;
  • 30 Bibles for during church services (€10 each);
  • 30 song bundles (€8.50 each);
  • Wall coverings such as paintings and maps (€25 each)

Mission Center Training

The goal is to learn the calling and gift of God through Biblical teaching to local pastors, elders and church leaders and to prepare these workers to go out into His vineyard. God’s Word describes the apostolic doctrines in which these workers are taught, with the aim of establishing personal faith in Christ Jesus and thus enabling each to convey these truths to the families, churches and villages. To teach, edify, exhort, and test the faith in the Person and work of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. For this we use the foundation of the London Baptist confession of faith from 1689. We also subscribe to the Apostles’ Creed.
